Norman Foster is the mastermind behind some of the most evocative architectural feats: New York's Hearst Tower, Beijing Airport, the Reichstag dome in Berlin, the huge viaduct over the Tarn in southern France, the Swiss Re tower (called 'pickle') in London. For Foster, every design, every sketch is an attempt to improve the quality of life through design. Sociologists and demographers predict that in the future there will be more people living in the cities than in the countryside. Fosters also wants to provide an answer to the challenges of the future with his designs. His most progressive project, the Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, a city fueled by green energy, with zero carbon and zero waste, is a real Eco City.
