Saw this for the first time and I wasn't disappointed, despite the dating. It took some getting used to the technology of that time, mobile phones as big as a shoebox, but the beautiful cars made up for that. It all looks a bit primitive, especially the fights, but there were also nice action scenes, the pace kept up and the actors did a fine job. Good old-fashioned cast. The downside was the chase between Quint and Nina; that lasted just a little too long.

Weak crime story with some futuristic touches and a few exciting scenes, based on a script by John Carpenter who himself was not proud of it at the time. Also full of absurdities from minute one. However, I was quite entertained by the naive aura that this film exudes. In those years I simply loved these kinds of films... how serious and overcritical we have all become these days, and I sometimes count myself among them.

This is certainly not a top work, but pure entertainment. Looks like a TV series episode of Knight Rider. Filmkriebel says: if you like this film, then you are my friend.

Some films are still rock solid some forty years later. Not this one.

Just about everything feels hopelessly dated - the cinematography, the music, the strange wig that Linda Hamilton has on her head - which later turns out to be a wig too. Tommy Lee Jones as boy, the unbelievable stunts. And then the narrative. A hydrogen car that sounds like a vacuum cleaner, and actually looks like one too.

In fact, Robert Vaughn is the only one who is still standing among all the fiddling. Just portraying a nice bad guy, he was quite good at that. Timeless rush.
