The Full Treatment plot
"A diabolical new technique in suspense!"
A race car driver and a woman are newly married and have an accident. The man drives his car into a truck and has a skull fracture. After several months of rehabilitation, the couple decides to travel together. But the husband is tormented by blackouts and his own aggressive behavior. He is afraid that he will kill his wife. A psychiatrist offers to help him.

A fine little thriller from production house Hammer. This is a Hitchcock-esque film with drama, psychology, suspense, twists, and unique locations. The theme of psychoanalysis harks back to the film noir of the 1940s (and was also used by Hitchcock). If we continue to use Hitchcock as a reference, the main difference in this Hammer is the absence of a few touches of (dark) humor. The Full Treatment takes itself deadly seriously for its entire running time. A little humor would have made it absolutely top-notch.
It does have a haunting story that is excellently visualized, partly through the use of chiaroscuro and close-ups. If you only know Hammer from gothic horror, then it is a revelation to see this 'modern' cop.
