The Fly II plot
"Like Father Like Son"
A few months after Seth Brundle was killed by Veronica's gun, she gave birth to his son, Martin. Seth's employer adopts Martin in order to use his genes for a super army. A few years later, despite being only five years old, Martin is fully grown and the fly in him is starting to wake up. With the help of his girlfriend Beth, he tries to get help.

Was this in the flop 100? Incomprehensible! The Fly II was a very pleasant surprise. Walas has cobbled together an unoriginal, but wonderfully smooth script. I enjoyed the build-up that didn't take too long and the last 20-30 minutes are a delicious dose of gore and tension. I enjoyed the make-up effects and the cat and mouse play in a setting that most reminded me of an Alien setting. The music of Christopher Young (Hellraiser) enhanced the atmosphere, so that in the end you end up with a very solid 80s horror that is certainly not inferior to the first part. Strong sequel.

A sequel of little added value. As in the sequel to the original The Fly, the son literally runs off with the father's inheritance, the only difference being that here the problems are not caused by stupidity, but the cause is genetic. It also goes wrong in the same way, the son slowly changes into a monster and his neat behavior suffers as well, but you won't see new things here. Nice gore and all in all quite nice to follow, only it all looks quite cheap and I can't think of any reason why this would be better than Cronenberg's famous The Fly.

Mediocre sequel where you know what's going to happen but have to wait almost the entire movie for that. Stoltz plays a very weak lead and does not know how to carry the film at all, which Goldblum managed to do. The climax was still entertaining, but that's about it.
