Cowboy Ross Taylor and his Mexican friend Chito Jose Gonzalez Bustamante Rafferty help road engineer Dan Madden and his wife Mary. Dan Madden's work on a road running parallel to the toll road operated by Anson Thurber and his armed accomplices has been delayed. After a shootout with Thurber's henchmen, Ross and Chito are able to take the Maddens to the construction site, where lawyer Jay Wingate, who calls himself an advocate of the new road, is already waiting for them. When Madden's surveying tools are sabotaged, despite Wingate's protection, Ross and Chito discover that Wingate and Thurber are in contact. To get rid of Ross, Wingate tells around that Ross and Mary are having a love affair. Ross then knocks Wingate down, but he is arrested by Cliffton's corrupt sheriff.
