Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps plot

"Gordon never gives up."

Gordon Gekko is released after eight years in prison. Despite his efforts to warn Wall Street of the impending economic downfall, his diminished status in the financial world does not make anyone believe him. He therefore decides to concentrate on his private life. He wants to improve the diluted relationship with his daughter Winnie, but because of his long absence and the fact that Winnie blames him for the suicide of her brother Rudy, she wants nothing to do with him. Meanwhile, Jacob's mentor, a young stockbroker who suspects mutual fund manager Bretton James of murdering his mentor, dies. Jacob, who is also Winnie Gekko's betrothed, wants revenge and counts on Gordon's help. Gordon decides to help Jacob, hoping to get closer to his daughter.

This sequel has enough story-wise to offer and you certainly won't be bored as a viewer. It all becomes a bit more personal and the financial market is certainly not in the first place in this part. I think this is a wise choice, because otherwise it would be difficult to match the first part.

Stone has gone a little soft. The film doesn't start unkindly, in the second hour it gets bogged down in an uninteresting, syrupy family drama where the concerns could only fascinate me moderately. No, then the first hour in that business world was a lot more fun, although nowhere is that as biting as in some other films. All in all, this film has become quite a tame one, of which Stone himself doesn't seem to really know what he wanted to say. yes, there was a crisis and he had already made that movie about Wall Street, but he seems clueless other than to have shot this one. Acting is also solid, but such a Douglas cannot shine as in the first part. A nice soundtrack and many beautiful skyline shots, a nice cameo (Sheen) and a great Wallach. 2.0*.

Pretty bad movie. Both Stone and Douglas have quite lost their sense. This Gekko is nowhere near as memorable as the one from the 80s. The film almost silts up in half-finished side plots, swaying morals and comes with the most cringe-inducing happy ending I've seen in ages. And then it turns out to be mainly a family drama.. Also at least 30 minutes too long.

Some nice bit parts and some nice shots of New York high-rise buildings. That's about it. Decent failure this.
