Gewoon Hans plot

The father of 17-year-old Katinka is a fan of Hans Teeuwen. The small house of the Vermeulen family breathes it into him: the TV plays Hans Teeuwen's shows all day long, posters are everywhere and numerous CDs and DVDs are lying around the room. The Teeuwen excess leads to fears and delusions in Katinka. The psychiatrist advises her to meet Teeuwen in person, because in this way she may be able to adjust the image she has created herself. When this encounter actually takes place, it has exactly the desired effect. Katinka quickly recovers and the nightmares, voices and apparitions stop. Then Teeuwen invites the family for dinner and a concert in the city. In the course of the evening Katinka falls madly in love with a perfect Hans Teeuwen. But is it the real Hans Teeuwen?

Unique and original. Teeuwen gets the chance to let loose and shine in the opening scenes. He sometimes exaggerates a little too much towards the end. I think the family is very good acting. Jamie Grant, in particular, comes across as very natural.

The story is fun but a bit vague at times. Why did Hans get so mad in bed? I found Katinka's reaction strange at first. And why does he then leave his own house and then smash the bakery?

3*

The first fifteen minutes are the best, where a wonderfully oppressive atmosphere is created. That household with the puffing mama, the little space, the terrible interior and then the day with fans of Hans Teeuwen. Those cheap plastic chairs in a sad room. Tragic rush. And you know: there really are people like this who let their whole life depend on their idol. It's wonderful how Ebbinge so aptly creates a certain atmosphere (as he would later do in Matterhorn).

Because the rest is rather uninteresting and somewhat vague (what does Ebbinge actually want?) to make a film noir? Jamie Grant is otherwise a beautiful girl, but not a very great actress so carrying the film is difficult for her. She does look fantastic in her dress, and that light tan works great in that dance scene where, with the help of lighting, she is often the only one left in an otherwise black space. Very nice. Nice supporting roles by Ton Kas and a bad Porgy Fransen. Incidentally, Ebbinge really makes a mistake three times: at the entrance of Hans into the house (with that music), the entrance to the castle (with Mozart's Rex) and Hans going up the stairs (with the Lacrimosa) - that's just pure kitsch without any good feeling. Too bad, because Mozart music by the fire works again. 3.0*

As a fan of Hans Teeuwen's shows, I wanted to check out these films.

Surprising and funny how completely different the film was from how I know Hans as a comedian.

He's pretty much everything we don't know about him in this, and that mostly kept my attention.

The ending was a bit strange and I expected more, but it's like someone said above, I can actually laugh at everything Hans does so it was an entertaining movie.
