A South African documentary about 5 young African punk rockers who founded the band Fokofpolisiekar in 2003. Fuck Off Police Car follows the five band members for four years as they grow into the country's most famous punk group. Lots of beer, fights, drunken CD recordings and rotten Volkswagen vans created a successful band that traveled all the major stages in the country. For many young people in South Africa, the success of Fokofpolisiekar -- the name that was created to chastise conservatives -- meant that the South African language didn't have to be associated only with the miserable history of apartheid. Suddenly it was possible to be South African and left-wing.
