"16 Chefs, 3 Days, 1 Chance"
How do you earn the prestigious award for the most skilled patisserie chef in France? Every three years, sixteen chefs are allowed to demonstrate their extraordinary skill to a respected jury for three days. A prize for life, awarded by Meilleur Ouvrier France (MOF). According to the selected participants, the competition is tougher than at the Olympics. The final recognition is both a dream and an obsession for every chef. Pennebaker and Hegedus filmed a number of 'master bakers in the making' from the preparations, during the competition and also at the, for some, painful result. We follow the invention, preparation, rolling, cutting, mixing and making of 'sculptures' of fine chocolate and sugar, pastries, bonbons and other delicacies.
