Laat Papa Maar Even met Rust plot
Twelve-year-old Melvin considers his second father Hans to be his real father, although they almost never do anything fun together. Hans, who suffers from a personality disorder, feels too often 'stupid' or suffers from an 'unwell feeling'. It goes so far that he is already annoyed by the good mood of his own stepson. According to his wife, Melvin's mother, the cause of this paralyzing depression is a lack of perspective. In any case, Hans can hardly be moved to the registering eye of the camera, except for a beer or a cigarette or a tired sigh or an extended moan. This documentary follows the small family for a year and a half, mainly dissecting the father-son relationship. It is poignant how the father demands all the attention, while the son hides his emotions behind a mask of cheerfulness. The question is to what extent this will affect the growing Melvin.
