"A little imagination goes a long way"
After Richard Dunne is written off as an author, he comes into contact with a teenager from Long Island. They build an unlikely friendship and the teenager teaches Richard a thing or two about "growing up". All this, under the disapproving eye of Richard's wife and an imaginary superhero named Captain Excellent.

The start was not appealing at all. Another superficial, on the edge of the idiotic American film with that forced humor that cannot be laughed at.
Fortunately, the film quickly takes off when it becomes clear that there is tragedy behind the loneliness of the immature adult protagonist and how dealing with a teenager clarifies and changes a lot.
Now the humor is also of better quality with witty dialogues and sayings and, admittedly, no thrills but a lot of honesty and naturalness in the intrigue and towards the end not without endearment
All in all, an enjoyable film.

The movie doesn't even start very promising. A writer moves into a house temporarily to work on his new book, but has no inspiration. There are more such films and they just go on under the guise of looking where the ship is stranded. But then the writer meets a young teenager. And then the film starts to build up nicely and slowly develops a nice story when the two main characters appear to have important similarities with each other. The scenes are also getting more interesting and more beautiful. And so it becomes a very beautiful film that is also very nicely acted. The film I had watched just before here, Our Idiot Brother (Film, 2011) - MovieMeter.nl I still slammed because he was ruined in such a quintessentially American way with its moralistic clichés and predictability. This film also comes from America and fortunately it turns out that not all American films are American bad, even though the danger with this film and its story was certainly lurking here.
