The San Francisco Story plot

"Between the Sea and the Sierras Stood the Sin-Strewn Gateway to Gold!"

1856, California. Andrew Cain is a corrupt politician who wants to build his own empire through terror. Newspaper publisher Jim Martin calls on the citizenry to take action against Cain. At the express request of his friend Martin, wealthy mine owner Rick Nelson comes to California. Nelson has no interest in the issue at all at first, until he encounters the beautiful Adelaide McCall. Adelaide is friends with the politician Cain. Nelson and Adelaide become interested in each other and Nelson nevertheless becomes involved in local politics and becomes captain of the vigilante.
