Stand Up: Muslim-American Comics Come of Age plot
It's a long tradition among American immigrants: to use humor to fight prejudice and racism. Muslim Americans are now using the same means to debunk stereotypes about Muslims. That is necessary too. Because since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, hatred of Muslims in the United States has increased. Stand Up: Muslim American Comics Come of Age tells the story of Ahmed Ahmed, Tissa Hami, Dean Obeidallah, Azhar Usman and Maysoon Zayid. Each of the comedians experienced the consequences of September 11 firsthand. But instead of keeping a low profile, they decide to speak up. This is not always easy: they have to deal with wrongful arrests and death threats. Each in their own way, they nevertheless try to remove the mistrust of Americans and their own community.
