Eroica plot
Eroica shows two stories from the Second World War. In the first story "Scherzo alla Polacca" a cunning son tries to save his own life. He eventually becomes a hero and finds a reason to fight. He first tries to avoid the training of the underground movement, in order to avoid the uprising in Warsaw. His drunkenness, disrespect to safety and cowardice in sober state show someone who is normal in a disturbed world. The second story "Ostinato Lugubre" shows a hopeless escape attempt from a prison camp, by a man who can no longer stand the incarceration and the stupidity of the soldiers in the prison. His escape boosts the morale of the other prisoners, while the escaped prisoner has to hide from the Germans.
