Beautiful film that is a bit too weighed down by the intrigue, making it all a bit too forced and complicated. Up to and including the literal drug bust and the trading of the coke it remains fascinating and exciting, but from this moment on the screenwriter does not seem to know what else to do with the story and it starts quite off the rails. Nevertheless, the film continues to fascinate, especially because of the characters and the strong performance of Wittermans in particular. 3.5*

Another successful telefilm. Also very nice and surprising that it was largely shot in Den Oever. My neighboring village on the former island of Wieringen is less than 10 minutes by bike from my village. When I heard that White Fish was filmed there, I immediately watched it on Broadcast. I don't expect that so soon and this year there is also supposed to be a film that was shot in Den Oever: Hunting & zn. I think the filmmakers have found a place there. Hopefully they will also come and film in Hippolytushoef.

But Iig Witte Vis was a very successful (for us) Wieringse Thriller with also a very strong and exciting story that comes across as very realistic on many points and can sometimes feel it yourself. Strangely enough, I do quite often with Dutch films. The story is very nicely constructed: fishing coke from the sea and because you are deep in debt, you just sell it. I also thought that Hans and Stijn acted as brothers as well.

All in all, a very successful thriller with of course beautiful shots of Den Oever.

After the fateful death of their father, it's up to Hans [Marcel Hensema] and Stijn [Mads Wittermans] to raise enough money to keep their cutter and continue as fishermen. They turn down an offer from an entrepreneur [Raymond Thiry] in party boats, but catch too little to survive. When they accidentally fish up a load of drugs, Hans [Marcel Hensema] sees an opportunity to pay off the debts quickly. Steve has his doubts. Firstly because Hans has no experience whatsoever with drug trafficking, secondly because he realizes that someone will be looking for this shipment. Well-acted crime drama gives an authentic feel to the fishermen's world, but the screenplay has few surprises.
