There are children, like Bobby, sitting in your congregations. Unknown to you they will be listening as you echo "amen", and that will soon silence their prayers. Their prayers to God for understanding and acceptance and for your love. But your hatred and fear and ignorance of the word gay will silence those prayers. So, before you echo "amen" in your home and place of worship, think. Think and remember, a child is listening.

This film touched me deeply because I have witnessed children being told that homosexuals are sick and those same children then fervently repeating this and praying to God to heal these people. I stood there as a closeted homosexual and kept my mouth ice-cold; a child is listening.

This film was therefore a painful confrontation and at the same time a very beautiful one. How would I do that now, as an out gay man? I hope otherwise. In any case, I think I can easily write that this is a worldwide problem that is big and that even bigger things are needed to overcome it. I have never seen it so straightforwardly in a film before. A death, a converted convert, this film shows it in less than an hour and a half. Sometimes much too fast, but in all speed incredibly convincingly acted by Sigourney Weaver. I experienced the ending as too much, but secretly I also thought that was beautiful. As if Jesus himself had risen as Sigourney Weaver

4.5 stars because of the many tears, the straight forward theme and the acting performances. No 5 because of the speed of the editing and the over the top ending.

A compelling and moving film about parents who make the grave mistake of going against their child's sexual orientation.

Captivating and convincing, although the over-sentimental and somewhat bombastic ending is somewhat annoying.

Great acting performance by Sigourney Weaver.

Beautiful, yet sad, true story.

I fear that there are still many families in this situation, although,,,in this day and age many are (sometimes too) free in what they do,,,but it certainly still exists, it is good that a film has been made about it.
