12 rounds is the type of action movie that is very reminiscent of Die hard: with a vengeance. This time with John Cena in the lead role. And I have to say he did a pretty good job. Furthermore, this film contains more than enough action that is spectacular throughout the running time and does not get boring.

Wild.

12 Rounds has a nice concept. The only danger is that you have a difficult task to choose with these kinds of films. You can do it pretty big with a lot of action, or you can make something small with it. Harlin opts for the former with his action film, but then seems to forget that the concept of "logic" also matters.

If the film had been lighter in tone and more self-aware, I could have easily avoided this, but Cena takes herself and the film very seriously. The result is a film that can keep up with the pace, but then throws incredulities and stupid moments in quick succession. The happy ending will therefore be quite itchy.

Furthermore, the acting is not that special and the tension of the situation disappears fairly quickly. Harlin knows how to keep up with the entertainment, that's for sure. Everything follows each other quickly enough and the drama moments in between never last too long. In that respect, the film pulls through well and that ensures that it is never a real task.

It is a pity that in terms of cinematography it is not always beautifully portrayed and that everyone who walks around here has left their brains at home. In the end this all feels very stupid and impossible, and then you can't take the film seriously anymore. Harlin only takes it very seriously, but that ensures that 12 Rounds can never really land on its feet.

Re-watched today, it remains a wonderfully exciting action film where he has to perform 12 rounds (assignments) to save his wife, similar to ''Die Hard 3''.

The only downside was the rather wild camera movements, but otherwise a very successful film and good story full of explosions and chases!
