Undertow plot
"Every bullet in Chicago had his name on it!"
Chicago gambler and criminal Tony Reagon is discharged from military service after World War II ends. Tony is no longer interested in criminal activity and wants to rent out a vacation rental in the mountains. But before he can even start, Tony is wrongly accused of murdering the gangster leader Big Jim in Chicago by criminal Danny Morgan, whom he knows from back in the day. Tony is forced to hide at the house of Ann McKnight, whom he met in a casino. Ann and her detective friend Charles Reckling set out to find the true killer. Both must determine that Tony's fiancée Sally Lee is having an affair with Danny Morgan and that Big Jim was Sally's uncle.
