The Executioner Part II plot

"Beware rapists, killers & muggers! He's back to get you..."

A masked vigilante, dubbed The Executioner by the press, commits gruesome murders on the streets of Los Angeles. However, his victims are not the most obedient citizens. Police officer Roger O'Malle investigates the case and begins to suspect his best friend and fellow Vietnam veteran Mike. Meanwhile, a mobster and drug trafficker nicknamed The Tattooed Man tries to lure O'Malle's drug-addicted daughter into prostitution.

Good nonsense, in which a crazy Vietnam veteran declares war on all the scum in the city.

In itself a rather non-violent Exterminator rip-off, which despite the little violence still has a good pulp atmosphere!

2.5*

Filmed in 1984, but with the funky soundtrack and vibe this feels more like an already dated seventies. A real low budget affair where the poster looks much better than the film itself. Director James Bryan had been in the business for a while, but that didn't apply to his crew. Some had no experience, others only experience with studio work, which means that Bryan taught his crew all kinds of things during the filming process. The shooting was constantly pressed for time and money, and the fact that the script was adjusted during the shooting did not really help matters. It results in a messy thing with a weird appearance. It never gets exciting, although the many fights still have a certain dated charm. The low point on a production level is the lack of synchronization of the soundtrack and film dialogues. And while James Bryan himself was also active as a professional sound engineer in other people's productions. But here too: lack of money.

In all its clumsiness it is fun to see once, but that's about it. I also have that feeling about James Bryan's other films and with that I will leave this man's oeuvre for what it is. With all respect and sympathy for the man's passion.
