What an unbelievably slow and boring start the film has to say! With the very long lesbian scene as the nadir. At first it looks like some kind of boring soft porn movie. It's only halfway through that the momentum picks up a bit. By the way, Steven Bauer and Christopher Walken played much better than Joan Chen and Anne Heche.

2.0*

Watched with a big smile. Is of course quite over the top and very American. It's also fun for once. Not too often. Of course it's not about the story. But mainly because of the speed, the twists, the fun of Walken and the rest, who are allowed to go their own way. Anne Heche is quite a piece and Steven Bauer is a joy to watch. That six-minute lesbian lovemaking between Anne Heche and Joan Chen has become a classic and by American standards quite explicit and erotic.

In short, there is plenty to enjoy. But then you shouldn't look at the Director's Cut, because there isn't much left of that lesbian scene. The rest is also quite messy and nothing was left of the strong start. Thomas83 didn't quite understand that beginning. Anne Heche doesn't let her attacker come, but she bites his ear before whispering to him: fuck off. Take a good look. Beautiful, that Queen Mary in the harbor, who regularly appears. Tried to visit it once, but failed due to lack of time. I still have the plague about it. But that aside.

Strange movie.

Perhaps mainly because I saw the 96-minute version, I couldn't find the 111-minute DC. Hopefully the plot will come into its own more in that, because in the cut version it is quite inimitable - which is really only interesting because of the cast, who then each portray a bunch of memorable characters. What might have happened if Cammell had been allowed to carry out his plan - we'll never know. Too bad, because this was potentially a great film. Of which acte, if you check the comments on imdb.
