Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story plot
Documentary about the life and death of the legendary Lee Atwater. Atwater, with his belief that politics was war, helped put three Republican presidents into office. Blues-playing Atwater did not shy away from any means during his campaign for the presidential candidate, but when he fell ill, he asked for forgiveness on his deathbed. Combining archival footage and interviews, Stefan Forbes paints the portrait of a man who grew up on the streets of South Carolina and fought for his place at the center of power, of a man who loved nothing more than playing the blues at his guitar and at the same time did not shy away from smear campaigns to discredit the Democratic presidential candidate. The documentary shows how contemporary politics has become a game of advisers and dirty games. The question is: who will be the Lee Atwater of the future?
