Bumaznyj Soldat plot
Kazakhstan, 1961: Daniel Pokrovsky works as a medic for Russian cosmonauts. He is married, but ends up in a loving but complicated relationship with a young woman, Vera. Then he goes back to Moscow, where he is responsible for the health of the future cosmonauts. He finds it difficult that these men may have to give their lives for their country. His wife Nina agrees and does not accept that her husband participates in such a project. When she urges David to quit his job, he leaves her.
