"HISTORY'S MOST BEAUTIFUL AND TREACHEROUS WOMAN!"
In 1000 BC. the Philistines rule over the Jewish people in the Middle East. The Jewish rebel Samson falls in love with the Philistine Semadar, but her sister Delilah is in love with Samson. When the wedding ends in a fight, Semadar is killed. Then Samson starts a revolt against the Philistines, excelling in his enormous strength. However, Delilah has her suspicions about how to break through this power.

Hedy Lamarr was referred to by 'connoisseurs' at the time as “the most beautiful woman in films”. Acting has never been her forte, but because of her enchanting beauty, Lamarr is perfectly cast as the seductive, treacherous and vengeful Delilah. Moreover, there is a wonderful chemistry between her and the robust Victor Mature in the other title role. And finally there is George Sanders, who skillfully portrays a very sardonic Saran of Gaza.
I am not biblical enough to be able to judge the content of the story on its merits, but apart from that, this film is certainly worth watching, thanks to the three protagonists and the beautiful music by Victor Young; despite the sometimes stilted dialogues, the mediocre production design and the bombastic approach of Cecil B. DeMille.
