The essential ingredients for a slasher film are present in this film: a simple story and a group of people (mostly young people, as in this film) ready for the slaughter. But despite that, the film still felt a bit disappointing: some of the kills were completely pointless, and the suspense score was also below par.

Moderate...

So many horror stories about legends that come to life every so often have been created, so there wasn't much new in the story of Blood Night... perhaps except that this time the legend is a young woman who walks around naked all the time. Nice... but not really, because she doesn't look very fresh anymore.

The cast generally consisted of annoyingly horny youngsters. Whether you're for or against it, I'm getting a bit tired of seeing that.

The murders and the blood - which is what you're watching for after all - mostly looked good, with occasionally some nicely styled images such as the film's intro.

All in all, a mediocre film that I didn't expect much from beforehand. It's passable within its genre.

Director Frank Sabatella starts with brutal ideas and bloody murders, but these are spread too thinly across this chaotic and uninviting horror project. The editing, in particular, is rather dated and relies far too easily on cluttered flashes and other bombast, making it unnecessarily difficult for the viewer to keep track. Furthermore, the characters offer little justification for feeling anything for them, and Danielle Harris only appears in the very last minutes. The explicit violence is sometimes striking, and the first fifteen minutes are unrestrained in a positive way; beyond that, Blood Night lacks much substance.
