In the violent world of the Hong Kong Triad gangs, one wrong move can be fatal. A series of unexpected misadventures challenges gang leader Lung and his gang to eventually lead a bloody gangster war. Fight after fight brings Lung and his gang closer and closer to destruction. A drug deal goes wrong, a kidnapping turns into murder and a covert mission leads to a massive massacre by the police. Smooth movie.
Just like I'm used to from Dennis Law. It is actually strange that he stopped making films relatively suddenly, because in a short time he has directed quite a lot of nice films together. It's not a really strong director, but it's rarely boring.
In itself in this Fatal Move a very typical Hong Kong movie. A lot of Triad drama, along with some martial arts scenes and gun action. And because it is Law, also slightly more graphic than usual. There are quite a few brutal shots in it, it has not become a Cat III film for nothing.
Also a nice cast. Sammo Hung as the bad guy, Simon Yam is always strong in these kinds of roles and Jing Wu also has a remarkable role. Also put together with a lot of panache and tempo. At no time great cinema, but also at no time dull, boring or slow. It's a pity Law has left the scene, Hong Kong could use him.

Smooth and flaming Hong Kong action/crime film that, although not convincing on all fronts, still manages to work towards a positive assessment thanks to the extremely strong shootings and fight scenes plus a great cast.
Downsides for Fatal Move of Triad Wars (Duo Shuai (2008) are the sometimes somewhat messy editing, so that the story does not always flow logically and clearly. And the CGI is not too good from time to time, especially the many blood spatters and flying limbs look pretty fake.
What speaks for the film again are the very spectacular action situations, especially the robbery at the police station, which are often accompanied by a lot of cruelty. Many big names among the actors, an occupation including Simon Yam, Sammo Hung, Wu Jing, Danny Lee and Suet Lam is of course not the least.
All this ultimately results in a very entertaining film, which certainly has its weaknesses, but at the same time never gets bored or boring. And that is also a quality.
