Een Volk zonder Eigen Land plot
Documentary about the life of Sinti and Roma in the Netherlands. The film shows daily life at a number of Sinti (gypsy) camps in the Netherlands, in which the colorful Schäfer family is more or less central. In a parallel narration, a large group of people is reviewed. The Schäfer family is the common thread and every time someone new comes along, he or she determines the continuation of the story. Against the colorful backdrop of campfires, food and music, the viewer is given the opportunity to discover how the Sinti interact with their elderly and people with disabilities. Religion plays an important role in which the Catholic Church with its pilgrimages and the Pentecostal Church with its mass congregational singing and baptisms are inextricably linked to Sinti.
