Un Barrage contre le Pacifique plot
Indochina, 1931. A mother realizes her family will soon fall apart. Her two children Joseph and Suzanne are 20 and 16 years old respectively and are about to leave the parental home. She has lost a lot of money investing in what turned out to be worthless land because corrupt government officials defrauded her. The country will soon be flooded. To get them back, she comes up with a crazy idea: build a dam with the help of some villagers, to stop the sea.
