In the beginning I didn't know what to expect from it and that was mainly due to the special decor. You get sucked into the movie almost right from the start and I thought it was a great movie. Good fight scenes and it's nice that striking and special roles are played in it. My advice: just start the movie and you'll be in it in no time.

Mediocre film about two strangers who come to a town where a powerful man rules. Visually, the film is certainly stylish and also original and contains a few nice action scenes. However, the story and the characters are not exactly captivating. The philosophical voice-over does more harm than good. It all goes on too long.

In the future, mankind has banned all modern weapons and the world has returned to the age of the sword. The current ruler is Nicola the Woodcutter [Ron Perlman], whose rule can only be ended if someone succeeds in defeating his gang. An unnamed stranger [Josh Hartnett] and Yoshi [Gackt Camui] challenge Nicola, but it soon becomes apparent that they only stand a chance if they work together. Reminiscent of a mix of Dick Tracy in terms of styling and the 'Girl Hunt' scene with Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse from The Band Wagon. Colorful costumes, elegant camera work and action scenes that are not only filmed as a dance, where the music follows the rhythm. Harrelson plays the wise bartender and Demi Moore is the stubborn woman who has been reduced to Nicola's whore. Quirky and highly entertaining, despite Hartnett's drab playing.
