It's Christmas 1930 when 8-year-old Buddy has to leave his Aunt Sook and the peaceful Alabama countryside to spend the holidays with his estranged father (Henry Winkler) in New Orleans. Buddy soon learns that his father would rather spend all day scamming people and making a quick buck than getting to know his son better.
