It's enjoyable at times, but it's marred by false romanticism. The idea that a flailing orchestra that hasn't rehearsed will suddenly sound professional after muttering a quick prayer just doesn't sit well with me. They travel illegally to France without getting into trouble. The denouement is narrated by a voiceover. It's rather striking that Guskov suddenly looks thirty years younger with a hairpiece.

At first, it seems like a lighthearted comedy, but the French know how to handle it. In Hollywood, the focus would quickly shift to the lead actors, while thankfully, the music in Le Concert also gets its due. Because it's just as crucial. It's a feel-good film that definitely leaves you with a good feeling. The film also ends at just the right moment. A wonderful film.

A comedy about a Russian orchestra that goes to Paris to give a concert under false pretenses. It's a highly improbable and unbelievable story, but it's well-told and enjoyable to watch. It's a shame, though, that the Russians speak French instead of Russian. It's a bit like Louis de Funes, without that flashy, theatrical personality, but with a similar brand of humor. There's also another, more interesting storyline. The film progresses predictably, but it's still enjoyable to watch and has a good pace. A typical three-star film. Towards the end, however, the other storyline takes on a more significant role, and that's beautifully played out in the concert. That's a remarkable achievement, and at that point, I'm half a star higher. Unfortunately, during that climax, some clichéd images follow, bringing the film back down to earth. It could have been better if there had been less emphasis on comedy and cliché.
