The Deserter plot
"A savage renegade and the chosen few... they followed him into Hell just for the chance to kill him!"
Embittered over his wife's death, which he believes was caused by military negligence, cavalry captain Viktor Kaleb deserts. Victor disappears through the desert in the southwestern United States. Looting Apaches, meanwhile, have set up a stronghold in Mexico, just out of range of the cavalry. Victor gets amnesty from the army. In return, he must lead a small group of mostly well-trained soldiers to the Apache stronghold and they must then drive them away.
