The Kindersurprise chocolate treat started more than thirty years ago in Italy as a supposedly responsible expansion of Ferrero's mystery-shrouded chocolate empire. A chocolate egg with more milk instead of cocoa (so healthy) and a toy that stimulates manual dexterity and creativity. But now it is no longer just children who pick away the foil around the chocolate egg with trembling hands. In 'A Bittersweet Temptation' the bizarre world surrounding the surprise is described. The adult collectors, who have thousands of kilometers and just as many euros to spare for a new series of toys. The trader who publishes a catalog every year, thanks to anonymous tipsters from Ferrero itself. The trade fair visitors, desperately looking for that one missing car or the missing leaflet. And the designer, who had remained anonymous until then, who received his long-desired recognition thanks to the documentary maker.
