"Desperation Knows No Borders"
Single mother Ray and Lila, a Mohawk Native American, smuggle illegal immigrants across the border from Canada to the US. They swear that every pick-up truck ride across the frozen river is their last, until they run afoul of the law on both sides.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this movie, but it pleasantly surprised me.
It came across very realistic and the acting was very natural. You really empathized with the different characters.
The story wasn't really that comprehensive, but it was definitely captivating from start to finish.
It's actually not that great of a movie, but certainly no less worth watching.
The genre is mainly drama, but certainly not dramatic. The effort!

A little more thrills would have been welcome.
Now largely a social drama that never really gets bad, but on the other hand it doesn't get really interesting anywhere.
And then it all goes on at a moderate level, which is a shame because in terms of theme, I think a lot more could have been done.

Frozen River is a film where Donald Trump can also get some inspiration for a possible second wall between Canada and the US 
. Again, illegal immigration is carried out by a lower-class single mother and a grumpy Mohawk young lady. The smuggling actions are unadorned and not very exciting, which the film does not need. Loved how modest Frozen River is in tone and yet knows how to captivate.
