Zai Na He Pan Qing Cao Qing plot
Da-Nian is a young man from Taipei. He leaves for a small village in the countryside to work as a substitute teacher. Teacher Su-Yun also works there. The two fall in love. In Da-Nian's class is a quiet, sad boy named Xiang-Wang, whose parents are divorced. To support his family, this boy's father kills the fish in the river with electricity, which is against the law and causes a lot of damage to the environment. Da-Nian is very fond of the local environment and tries to change the father's mind. The boy is ashamed of his father and decides to run away.

Otherwise a nice video.
Story reminds me a bit of Totoro, the setting is very similar to Only Yesterday. I think the two Ghibli grandpas watched this film together on the couch.
Very simple, easy and sweet film about a new teacher who arrives in a small village, takes a class under his wing and teaches them the value of nature, which eventually results in the local creek being protected and game fishermen no longer being able to do their thing. It is not very profound in any case.
Very free and flowery. Lots of green, great surroundings there too, and all very innocent. Although after the 2/3 mark there is still some extra drama in the film. The Ghibli gentlemen did a bit better there. This film is just a bit too much drama, sometimes a bit too noisy for such a quiet film.
Fortunately also nice and short, certainly could not have been longer. Entertaining and a nice trip, but that is all it is.

A sweet film indeed. Anyway, a nice atmosphere with beautiful images of the countryside that really make it come to life. The story is also fine. The acting is not very special and it all remains a bit distant. Also those songs in between are a bit strange. Also, it all remains a bit superficial so that it does not stick. Sufficient though because of the sometimes beautiful pictures and nice sounds. 3.0*
