Everyone feels connected to Gene Kelly. For the men, he is a real man's man. To women, he is a knight who has exchanged his white horse for a t-shirt and khaki pants. And he strengthens that bond with a powerful, athletic way of dancing that he himself describes as the 'American Style'. The life and career of this innovator, whose oeuvre includes Singin' in the Rain, On the Town and An American in Paris, is reviewed in this documentary about this man. A man - often narcissistic, always the perfectionist - who breathed new life into the film musical and gave dancing on the silver screen a new dimension.
