The Shop at Sly Corner plot

Desius Heiss is the French owner of an antique shop on Sly Corner. He harbors a deep-seated grudge against those around him for being imprisoned and tortured on the infamous Devil's Island. Heiss doesn't care about the authorities and has turned his shop into a crime center. His daughter Margaret, however, knows nothing about her father's activities, but it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to keep it a secret from her.

Indeed a fine film in which extortion is central. What an incredibly annoying individual that sidekick. Very conceited and arrogant, both during his period as a commoner and as a rich man. Amassed his fortune by extorting money from his (former) boss.

In principle, money was never an issue, but he went a step too far when he targeted the beautiful daughter. Couldn't help but end badly.

All in all, the police investigation was short with 2 or 3 suspects in the running. Well solved here by the director and of course you could not believe that those curare arrows would become an item. There was just too much focus on that, just like on that small statue by the way. A nice one!
