Nice film about incident with an artificially created life form that needs to be evaluated. On the subject of artificial intelligence, the film remains somewhat superficial. But it does make for an entertaining film that also looks good and where the casting works well. Nice denouement, even if you saw it coming at some point.

Intriguing and also quite original film although we have seen the subject before.
Still, I find the matter of an artificial life form quite often produces a strong film if it is not so well developed here in Morgan.
Fortunately, the film scores a lot better on other points, especially the cast because there are some great roles (and quite big names) in between. Anya Taylor-Joy is very convincing in the title role and Michelle Yeoh (I had them almost unrecognized), Toby Jones and Kate Mara put in good performances, not to mention Paul Giamatti who makes a big impression in his short screen time..
The story isn't too surprising, but it does have a good dose of subcutaneous tension and that works in its favor. And if things pick up a bit more in the last half hour, I can ultimately conclude that we are dealing here with a most charming directorial debut from Luke Scott.
Not top notch but just reasonable to good, especially because the genre appeals to me.

Despite the cast and intriguing subject matter, the film did not fully convince me. The reason is mainly a long run-up without too many noteworthy events. The film only begins to unravel when Morgan realizes what she is and tries to save herself. I thought it was all very ordinary and the last half hour brought some entertainment. Kate Mara and Anya Taylor-Joy balance each other perfectly and still manage to make something out of it through their interpretation. 5/10
