Watched the second Dick Tracy film right away.

Once again, this has turned out to be an atmospheric crime film leaning towards noir. And once again with fantastic characters (Dick Wessel as Cueball and Skelton Knaggs stand out).

The story is slightly less violent than the first Dick Tracy film, but certainly no less exciting. Cueball clearly enjoys strangling his victims.

After this film, it was over for Morgan Conway as Tracy. The audience felt that the original Dick Tracy (from the serials) should take over. I'll have to check soon to see how he fared!

4*

A very fun semi-police movie in which the plot seems to be merely a pretext to bring various colorful characters from the comic to life on the big screen, including Dick Wessel as the genuinely unpleasant Cueball, Ian Keith as the stylish Vitamin Flintheart, and the bizarre-looking Skelton Knaggs as diamond cutter Rudolph, who unfortunately appears far too little. Sadly, Dick Tracy himself remains a rather colorless hero in this film, and Morgan Conway is not an actor who can bring a bit of rosiness to his character's cheeks, but the supporting roles, the plot, and the pacing make up for a lot. Very entertaining.
