Un Amour de Poche plot

Jérôme Nordmann is a biologist who studies animal freezing in his laboratory to determine its effect in humans. He is helped by his loyal assistant Maubru. The scholar is also still studying at the university. A young student, Monette, admires him greatly. When Maubru can no longer help Jérôme due to circumstances, she asks him if she can take his place. Jérôme is hesitant at first, but eventually agrees. He is soon impressed, both by her sweetness and her abilities. One day, a dog in the lab knocks over a bottle containing an experimental liquid, which he drinks from and shrinks into a small stone statue. A while later, Jérôme's betrothed comes to visit and Monette, in order to hide, decides to drink the dangerous stuff as well. Now Jérôme is forced to frantically search for an antidote.
