Giallos, as a genre, peaked in the early 1970s. Even then, there was some criticism of the misogynistic nature of a genre in which women are constantly slaughtered for the audience's entertainment. This film certainly fits into that category and actually takes things a step further, as the killer targets women who cheat. These are supposedly murders with a "moral" motive, although also discriminatory because the men who cheat are never targeted. In any case, it is and remains fiction. The motive of murder to punish (illegitimate) sex may be a staple of later American slashers, but here we're talking about an Italian film from the early 1970s, likely influenced by the Catholic Italian society of the time.

Despite all these considerations, it's a good giallo with a sleazy approach and a memorable plot. It's great to see Farley Granger—who we know from Hitchcock's Rope and Strangers on a Train—at work in a later phase of his career. And he does a good job. I find the ending quite unforgettable. For me, an above-average giallo.
