In the fall of 2005, 40-year-old Kazuhiko Yamauchi's life changed completely when he was selected as the prime minister's political party candidate for a vacant seat on Kawasaki's city council. Strange choice, given that Kazuhiko Yamauchi has no political past, is not known and does not have a charisma to write home about. With a win, Prime Minister Koizumi's liberal party would gain a majority in the city council. A large and very expensive campaign is being launched.
