Anna is stuck: she is approaching 30 and lives like a hermit in a shed with her mother in the garden. She fills her days making videos using her thumbs as actors - thumbs arguing over all sorts of nonsense. A week before her birthday, Anna's mother presents her with an ultimatum: she must move out of the shed, get a haircut that doesn't question her gender, and stop dressing like a homeless teenager. Naturally, Anna would have none of this. But when an old school friend comes to visit, her self-imposed isolation is unsustainable. Before she knows it, she's stuck with a troubled 8-year-old boy obsessed with westerns and a real estate agent whose lack of social skills prevents his attempts to seduce Anna.
