La Voleuse plot
Nineteen-year-old Julia Kreuz has a son, Carlo, whom she did not want. Without even knowing who the father was, she entrusts the child, eight days after birth, to the sterile couple Kostrowitz. Six years later, she is married and decides to confess her hidden motherhood to her husband. She goes to the city of Essen where the Kostrowitz family lives, sees her child on the street and decides to take it back.

A psychological drama that revolves around adoption in pure nouvelle-vague style à la Godard, black and white, with cool sets and apparently cool characters, classily performed by Michel Piccoli and Romy Schneider.
The structure of the film, with its rather short scenes and its characters that seem to come from nowhere, and the nasty atmosphere do not make Chapot's work particularly attractive, but, as mentioned, Piccoli and Schneider save it from a certain dullness.
