The Mask You Live In plot

"Is hyper-masculinity harming boys, men and society at large?"

The documentary follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves because they don't fit the narrow American definition of masculinity. Despite the pressures of society, they resist the norms to part with their emotions. Instead, they should consider sincere friendships less important, treat women as an insignificant object, and if possible humiliate and resolve differences between them through violence. Stereotype masculinity does not associate with other races and social groups. But boys and young men find themselves in a maze when developing their identities.
