A documentary about the Amsterdam Red Light District. The filmmaker has used the figure of 'Haring Arie', a man with shady sources of income, as the pivot for his film. He is heard about his childhood and the comments of his parents. One sees him at the tattoo artist, at the gambling game, in various cafes, on a bike ride outside, with his wife Mien at home, during a shoplifting. His opinion is asked after interviews with other residents of the neighborhood, who speak cautiously.

Kerbosch provides a fascinating glimpse into the kitchen of the sixties. The call for a free sexual morality drips from the whole. Not only is prostitution discussed extensively, the sale of sex articles and related 'literature' is also a topic of conversation. Around the Oudekerskplein shows an Amsterdam as it no longer exists and shows a society as it no longer exists. The harmony, despite the (small) conflicts, the openness and the spontaneity have had to make way for hardening, artificial tolerance and a so-called 'free' expression of opinion with zero value.

Not at all what I expected. It seems as if the "criminals" are playing a game with the film crew (especially Haring Arie is busy painting his life beautifully).

Normally the period would be enough for a small pass, but even that is hard to find in this documentary!

Watch it on Youtube. See it as a man bites dog xl but from 1968. A beautiful time document. Of course with recognizable and less recognizable things and a raw representation of happy but also dirty and often sad work. Yet often funny!

Please note: it is difficult to understand, but some people get used to it and others find it annoying.
