Kaidan plot

Japan, 250 years ago. Soetsu is a moneylender who is killed by the cruel samurai Shinzaemon and his body is dumped in the Kasane-ga-fuchi River. A river in which, according to legend, no one will float to the surface and drown in it. 20 years later, Shinkichi, Shinzaemon's handsome son, accidentally meets Toyoshiga, Soetsu's daughter, and they fall in love. A love that is doomed as Soetsu's spirit is still very much alive.
