Bride of Re-Animator plot
"Date. Mate. Re-animate."
After the massacre at the Miskatonic Hospital, the two friends must have Dr. Herbert West and Dr. Dan Cain doing temporary fieldwork. Herbert West is still testing his reagent on involuntary victims. After being re-admitted to Miskatonic Hospital, both friends calmly resume resuscitating the dead. The experiment gets out of hand when Herbert West creates a woman from various parts with the heart of his colleague's deceased girlfriend.

Mediocre film in which the two scientists try to breathe new life into dead tissue. As the title suggests, this sequel is the same kind of sequel as Bride of Frankenstein. The combination of horror and comedy doesn't quite work here because the humor is rather strange. The pace is also quite slow, especially during the first half. The make-up and special effects are still fine 30 years later.

Although not as good as Gordon's Re-Animator (3*), they try to create a gothic Frankenstein atmosphere with West's lab near the graveyard. That's okay, but everything that made the first film more fun is missing here.
Mad scientistHerbert West continues to mess around with corpses and body parts here, while the head and deranged brain of the sadistic doctor Hill comes back to life. I thought his flying head was one of the best finds in this beautifully restored Arrow release. The "bride" herself comes back to life much too late and it seemed to me that the makers didn't really know how to give her a worthy role in the film. She disappears as quickly as she came and that is why the climax is actually a bit of a disappointment.
All the good ideas were there and yet the opportunity to get a really good horror movie is missed. 2.5*

Just as fun as the first part.
In terms of strange scenes, gore and absurdity, you as a viewer will be well catered for in Bride of Re-Animator. Just like the first part, this sequel is also very entertaining. Towards the end, the film drags a bit and the climax falls a bit short of what preceded it in the film. Bride deserved a better, epic ending
