Scottish bus driver George falls in love with Carla, a refugee from Nicaragua. Out of love and hoping to heal her traumas, he takes her to her homeland. There it is not an exotic holiday paradise, but war. When George's bullets fly, he realizes that her homeland is about more than his love for Carla.
