Man Zkt Vrouw plot
On the day of his retirement, the 60-year-old school director and widower Leopold Vossius is told by his housekeeper Ada that she is returning to her native country. Leopold's unsolicited helpful neighbor Julien convinces him to look for a woman via the website "wareliefde.com". The interest proves overwhelming and Leopold starts dating. On the day of his first appointment, Ada's replacement also shows up: her Romanian cousin Alina. Alina is in her mid-twenties, temperamental and a minor disaster in the household. She irritates Leopold immensely and turns his whole life upside down in more ways than one.

One of the few romantic comedies from Belgian soil. I always have a bit of a hard time with films from my homeland. Usually you come across such an uncomfortable, somewhat forced story that doesn't surprise you anywhere. No matter how hard Decleir tries, I can only conclude that he has started acting on autopilot. His character seems almost the same in every movie, and it doesn't come out very well here. Opbrouck was not too bad as a side-kick. Otherwise all very predictable and full of coincidences. Poorly developed characters and rather hasty declarations of love. The stars go out for a fair number of laughable moments in the first place, as the romantic aspect has almost completely gone wrong.

This is another film from the faits divers series of Vtm and like a few more from this series, I just didn't like it again. Not a bad movie, but not wow either. The film is enjoyable and the ending is fortunately not cliché, but I didn't think the ending was wow either.
As a comedy I've certainly seen better ones, so you certainly won't be laughing from start to finish.
Good to watch on TV, but no more than that.

Simple, charming rom-com about a grumpy man, who does not know what to do with his feelings, and a temperamental housekeeper, who literally and figuratively does not understand her boss. Jan Decleir is just Jan Decleir and Maria Popistasu, whom I know from the dramatic miniseries Sex Traffic (2004), is a very fun and beautiful polar opposite.
