The Last of England plot
A collage film about the 'Stand of England' in the 80s. A jumble of home movies, images of riotous youth, the downtown London in decline, drugs, prostitution, but also the ghostly marriage of Charles and Di, Thatcher and the Falklands War.

Tomorrow's have been cancelled, due to lack of interest
I found it to be more or less the film that would be made if all of England were waiting for an inevitable death after the dropping of the atomic bomb. Or something like that. The collage of images has an apocalyptic feel. There is no future left, everything is doomed. And that full of references to Thatcherite England (factory closures, Clause 28, Falklands War, unemployment), with occasional connections to more introverted personal emotion as well (I was seriously wondering if Jarman already knew he was going to die at the time of this film). But that is mainly what I saw.
I had some issues with the length. The film fascinated me in flashes but didn't draw me in enough to keep me truly immersed for an hour and a half. For me, it would have worked better as a half-hour short film. The scene cited by Yorgos was one of the highlights. Perhaps a rewatch will help me get over this feeling a little.
I'll stick with 3.0* for now.
